It feels like a summer's day today and the grass is almost ready for its first cut after a very long period without rain. I just need to charge the mower's battery and fill in some large rabbit holes and then the lawn will be set.
The wild flower section amongst the fruit trees has had a lot of cuckoo flower this year and that has made a lovely sight from the house . . gradually as the wild flowers increase there it will be a wonderful focal point at the end of the garden.
We planted lots of forget me nots around the base of the ash tree and that is a carpet of blue right now and has even attracted bee flies which is a fly that looks like a bee but hovers with a hummingbird like effect as it takes the nectar.
The primroses along the driveway bank have found the spots they like best and gradually over the years will make a lovely late spring show there.
I am continuing to repair or renew the hedges and fencing along the public footpath and in the end, these will frame the garden nicely. I am also tackling the very overgrown corner on the house side of the garage so that it too will make a nice focal point in a few years.

Forget me nots are a favourite of mine. Do you remember the pools of blue we had beneath the apple trees at Orchards - I brought some plants with me to Italy - they have increased in number in the six years we have been here - they are very much admired - I will make sure that they are well spread around Lake Como. Is your garden open to the public?
